MFS Engineers & Surveyors was retained by Marvel Architects for the NYCEDC/NYCDPR Orchard Beach Pavilion Rehabilitation Project in Bronx, NY. The project was a renovation project of the historic beach pavilion structure. The scope of work for this rehabilitation project for MFS was professional land survey, site-civil engineering, structural foundation engineering, and geotechnical engineering services.
For the first phase of the project, MFS conducted a thorough review of all existing data, record civil & structural drawings, reports and documentation provided by the NYCEDC. Upon completion of the crawlspace, foundation and subsurface investigation, MFS provided a comprehensive final report with detailed findings, and recommendations to correct the deficiencies. MFS provided Topographical and Utility Surveys to locate physical features and surface utilities. Furthermore, MFS completed a CCTV and sewer cleaning and inspections of the sanitary sewer lines at the site. Based on the comprehensive final report with detailed findings, documentation and recommendations, MFS assisted the Design Team to provide engineering design input to produce the final design for phase two of the project.
The MFS civil engineering team considered the conditions that are encountered at the site and made recommendations on how the proposed site design would be impacted. MFS prepared preliminary and final drawing documentation, as well as technical specifications for the project. MFS was brought into the design team in part because of our understanding of NYCEDC standards and deliverables from multiple previous projects, and our extensive experience with public projects in the New York City Metropolitan area.
