MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided professional land surveying services for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Avenue, NY 10028. MFS was hired to perform services by the associate project manager of the Galleries construction to gather elevations along the Ancient Near East and Cypriot Galleries. The MFS project scope consisted of surveying of required floor elevations at key locations within the gallery spaces.
MFS performed a closed digital level loop, originating from (NGS) Vertical monument KU1431 (C 339) and encompassing all the essential points. The digital level loop was meticulously closed, with each of the 24 key points subjected to two measurements. MFS’s field team was diligent in safeguarding the flooring and ensuring zero damage.
Upon completion, MFS office staff drafted a plan, utilizing the provided plan as a backdrop and incorporating the requested elevations.
The vertical datum was tied to North American Vertical Datum 1988 (NAVD88), by a precise digital level run from National Geodetic Survey (NGS), Vertical monument KU1431 (C 339) a Vertical Order First Class II monument.
