Aerial photogrammetry was employed to capture precise measurements and spatial relationships across the project area. Ground surveys, including the establishment of primary control points, survey baselines, and photo control, provided a robust framework for mapping accuracy. Detailed feature extraction, encompassing catch basins, manholes, valves, hydrants, utility mark outs, utility poles, and other relevant infrastructure, was conducted and integrated into the basemap.
Supplemental ground surveys were conducted to generate a comprehensive Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM), accurately representing the terrain’s elevation and contours. The DTM was subsequently used to produce 1’ contour maps, offering invaluable information for planning and design.
The project also involved the establishment of right-of-way and road centerlines, which were incorporated into the basemap for accurate corridor analysis. The mapping deliverables were delivered in MicroStation, adhering to NJDOT standards and specifications to meet or exceed ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data.
MFS’s comprehensive topographic base mapping and DTM services provided a solid foundation for the Main Avenue improvement project in the City of Passaic. Our accurate and detailed data enabled effective planning, design, and decision making, contributing to the project’s success in addressing transportation needs and enhancing the quality of life for the community.
