Multimodal Services - Airport Design, Construction and Aviation Planning at Greenwood Lake Airport

West Milford, Passaic County, New Jersey

Project Overview

The New Jersey Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Multimodal Grants and Programs provided grants to various airports to advance runway rehabilitation, taxiway construction, lighting improvements, and safety and security improvements. The Greenwood Lake Airport in West Milford, Passaic County, New Jersey was one of the beneficiaries of these grants.

For this project, Jacobs Engineering Group contracted MFS to provide surveying and mapping services for the airport. MFS’s scope of work included obtaining new aerial photography and providing photo and supplemental control, planimetric mapping and field edit surveys. Deed research was performed for all affected properties, in addition to field reconnaissance and location for existing monumentation. A property boundary survey was then performed to identify the airport boundary line and other airport-owned lands that were not contiguous with the boundary. Wetlands flags were located and added to the base map. Mapping and survey were provided in AutoCAD Civil 3D and conformed to the NJDOT Survey and Photogrammetry Manuals, including Articles 44 and 51, to meet or exceed the ASPRS Positional Accuracy Standards for Digital Geospatial Data.
