History
What started from a vision of three colleagues, has grown to become a dependable multi-discipline firm serving hundreds of clients.
How it all began
Founded in 2009, MFS Engineers & Surveyors was established from the shared vision among three civil engineers-Jose Fuertes, Michael Mudalel, and Paul Shim, who met through their academic and early professional careers in New York. Their goal was to provide comprehensive engineering and surveying services backed by technical rigor and personalized client service.
The firm’s first major project- a bridge reconstruction project in Westchester County, New York, set the foundation for what MFS would become: a responsive, innovative, and trusted engineering partner. Since its inception, the firm has grown steadily, expanding its geographic reach, service offerings, and team of experienced professionals.
Today, MFS is a multidisciplinary, MBE/DBE/SBE/SDB-certified firm headquartered in South Plainfield, New Jersey, with offices in Newfoundland, New York City, and Puerto Rico. The firm supports a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, transportation, utility, and development projects while maintaining the hands-on approach and responsiveness that defined the firm from the beginning.
