CAD Operator/Drafter

MFS is seeking a driven, career-minded individual to fill the position of CAD Operator / Drafter in the Structural Division of our dynamic multi-discipline civil engineering and land surveying firm.

Role:

The successful CAD Operator/Drafter candidate will manage and lead the structural engineering drafting projects in his/her group. The CAD Operator/Drafter shall be able to manage and prepare final construction drawings and structural detailing, perform QA/QC, and mentor junior engineers in developing their CAD/drafting experience while working under the supervision of the Structural Project Manager and Principal Engineer.

The CAD Operator/Drafter’s duties include leading the development of structural plan sets from concept and schematic design through final construction documents, as well as coordinating with other project team members for CAD background information. Structural drafting includes buildings, bridges, ancillary structures, and site structural elements.

This position will work within the divisional team, collaborating closely with our Structural Engineers and providing training/guidance to entry level engineering staff. 

This position requires in-person work primarily out of South Plainfield, NJ office (Headquarters).

Salary Range: $75,000 to $100,000

Responsibilities

  • Prepare design development drawings and final construction documents
  • Prepare plans, elevations, sections, and details
  • Support standardization efforts including templates, blocks, layers, and drafting procedures and conforms to departmental and agency CAD standards
  • Coordinate drawing content with project team members (architect, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
  • Perform QA/QC of CAD review
  • Mentor and train structural engineering staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or other related experience.
  • Minimum of 6 years of professional CAD drafting experience. 
  • Must have experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Ability to manage time and workload effectively, which includes planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple projects and assignments with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with project team members.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communications and organization skills.
  • Driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
  • Undergo a background check (required). 

Preferences

  • Current experience in structural and civil engineering industry.
