Project Details

The primary objective of this project was to improve accessibility and overall passenger experience at the Cedarhurst Station. The enhancements included the installation of elevators to provide step-free access from the street level to the platforms, ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Additionally, platform improvements were being made by raising sections of the platform to facilitate easier boarding for all passengers, particularly those with mobility impairments.

MFS’s structural team provided the supporting structural analysis and calculations, ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the proposed accessibility enhancements. They also provided design and structural calculations for guardrails and handrails at ramp access ways and new staircase access ways, as well as structural analysis for platform adjustments to accommodate the new elevators and raised sections.
