The project's objective involved the development, planning, and execution of the most effective procedure to strengthen and rehabilitate the city walls originally constructed back in the 16th century. The successful results of this program helped National Park Services plan to restore the entire 2,600 linear feet of fortification walls for this important landmark in Puerto Rico. The specific work included testing of existing wall material, pre-injection ground penetrating radar survey, development of a custom compatible grout mix design and a low-pressure masonry injection grouting at two different wall sections. Additional work involved the development and execution of a quality control process assisted the successful completion and help achieve restoring the composite behavior in the existing masonry wall assembly.
