MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided professional geotechnical engineering services for the Cherry Hill East High School Stadium Improvements project located in the Township of Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The project consisted of improvements at the existing football stadium including constructing new bleachers on both sides of the field and new stadium lighting.

MFS coordinated with our subcontracted drilling agency to conduct six test borings to depths of approximately 30 feet below grade. MFS obtained samples continuously in the upper 12 feet and at five-foot intervals thereafter.

During the test boring operations, MFS observed the subsurface conditions and generated test boring logs to include soil classifications in accordance with the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS), groundwater observations, action of equipment, and other noteworthy observations. The boring logs showed borehole and sample diameters and depths at which drilling or sampling methods or equipment change. Logs showed total depth of penetration, blow counts, groundwater levels, and types of sampling. The drilling equipment make and model, drilling method, date and time drilled, casing, any heaving conditions, loss of circulation, and voids were also noted on the logs.

Laboratory tests were performed to classify soils and obtain geotechnical physical characteristics for soils. The results of the field investigation and laboratory testing program, evaluation of the subsurface conditions, and our geotechnical engineering recommendations were presented in a written geotechnical engineering report. Our report included design and construction recommendations for the proposed bleachers and sports lighting including a seismic evaluation, allowable bearing capacities, soil design parameters, and estimated settlement.
