MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided professional surveying services to The New York City Department of Environmental Protection Department (DEP) at three pump stations sites located in Staten Island, New York. In support of HDR's design MFS performed boundary and topographic survey services to at the Mersereau, Mayflower, and Richmond pump station sites.
MFS provided the surveys along the existing force main routes. The Survey team additionally performed a utility survey to locate surface utilities such as manholes, catch basins, trench drains, valve covers, utility/light poles, hydrants, chamber covers, and exposed piping. A property survey was also undergone to determine the locations of the property lines adjacent to the project sites.
MFS utilized a subconsultant to prepare aerial photogrammetric mapping of the Mersereau and Mayflower pump station sites and its existing force main routes. New color digital aerial photography flown at an altitude resulting in a ground sampling distance (GSD) of 3.0cm resolution was obtained. MFS incorporated the aerial mapping into the survey mapping and delivered to the client one comprehensive base map of the entire project corridor.
