MFS Engineers & Surveyors provided professional structural engineering services for The New York City Environmental Protection (DEP) GI (Green Infrastructure) Schools - Green Roof program, an initiative aimed at installing green roofs on public school buildings throughout New York City. This program is part of a broader effort to incorporate green infrastructure into urban environments to manage stormwater, improve water quality, and provide additional environmental and educational benefits.

MFS’s structural team conducted site visits to six schools to observe and document the existing structural conditions, focusing on the current roof conditions to ensure the structures could support the additional loads of the new green roof systems.

The team prepared detailed field reports documenting their findings, including documentation, and providing stakeholders with the necessary information for key design considerations.
